Yo shout out to my homie @Battleaxe5120, his production skills are nasty. This dude is one of the best producers in the game. Can’t wait to here more stuff from him. By the way, heard he did some stuff of the new D-Maub album. This is a Big Fil track produced by Battleaxe from Rhyme Council Music Group.

Love this Breax video. Lyrics are sick and I like the music changes. Keeps you on your toes.

DJ Mr-Doc

—The Love I Have

Minnie Rips

I have been listening to DJ Mr. Doc for a minute now. His blend of jazz, funk, house and Hip Hop has always faired well with me since I enjoy all the mentioned genres.

The first time I heard a full length album by Mr. Doc was in Orlando, Florida when he so graciously allowed me to occupy his couch before and after my 2003 internship with Walt Disney. It was a green burned disc, with noticeably Detroit influenced house music.

Side note: Mr. Doc and I go way back before that time since he is one of my fraternity brothers (big up Beta Phi Alpha, Inc.). But by no means does that make me biased towards his sound. In fact there are a couple projects he has put out since that time that I was not all the way fond of.

In any case, his new album “Minnie Rips” is a homage to the soul legend Minnie Riperton. Using his signature touch of trip-hop snaps and he strategically fuses Minnie’s vocal “rips” into a funky groove salad (shout out my other blog) that will be sure to please lounge hoppers, from LA to Baltimore.

If you are looking to add some new music to your “Just Kicking It” playlist, stop by his bandcamp page and download “Minnie Rips” today.
